With the Güntner Glycol Guard, you are always on the safe side: The glycol collection system with its specifically developed, uniquely precise sensor is always perfectly clean thanks to automatic cleaning; the drain pipe of the tray is generally kept closed and opens only if the analysis detects no presence of glycol. The sophisticated design of the system already meets the legal requirements that are expected to come into force in the future following the adoption of the "Ordinance on facilities for handling substances that are hazardous to water" (German designation: AwSV).

Long-term safety, minimal maintenance
Mixtures of water and ethylene glycol with a glycol concentration > 3 % are classified as fluids hazardous to water. This is why operators of dry cooling plants usually use a closed circuit system for water protection. With the Glycol Guard, Güntner offers a unique solution to comply with the relevant standards on water protection. The sophisticated glycol collection system consists of a tray, a controller, sensors and a shut-off valve, and provides long-term operational reliability with minimal maintenance.
Reliable functionality of the Glycol Guard
The system's key component is a special sensor with an integrated cleaning function. The drain pipe of the tray is generally kept closed – also in the event of a power failure. The fluid that has accumulated in the pipe is tested for the presence of glycol by a sensor specifically designed for this application. A corresponding signal is sent to the shut-off valve based on the results of the test.
Drain only after checking
Only if no ethylene glycol is detected, the shut-off valve is opened and the accumulated water can be drained. No auxiliary means such as dyes or similar products are needed in order to detect ethylene glycol.
Operator support by automatic system monitoring
If any ethylene glycol is detected, an alarm message is immediately sent to the customer's system and the shut-off valve remains closed. This automatic monitoring supports the operator in his or her monitoring and inspection obligations.
Highest precision and reliability
Due to its precision of +/- 0.3 % glycol concentration, the Güntner Glycol Guard is more precise and more reliable than any system available on the market.
Sensor with cleaning function
The maintenance management measures the degree of soiling of the sensor and transmits the data to the customer's system. The integrated cleaning function ensures a high level of fail-safe operation and low maintenance requirements.
Modular and space-saving
The collection basins consist of modular elements. This makes for reduced transported tonnage and easy handling due to adjusted modul dimensions.
Easy to configure as an accessory via the GPC
You carry out the configuration as usual via the Güntner Product Configurator (GPC) and select the Güntner Glycol Guard as an accessory. The GPC will immediately provide you with the dimensions so that you can continue with planning the required sub-construction straight away.
